The AI Safety Analysis & Community (ASAC) Insight Lab is a research and intelligence unit focused on understanding how AI is being weaponized in real-world contexts – and what communities can do about it.
ASAC:
ASAC is not theoretical. It lives where real harm shows up first: inboxes, phone calls, social feeds, and community rumors.
ASAC monitors deepfake videos, AI-generated images, synthetic voices, and other manipulated media that can damage reputations, incite fear, or mislead the public. The Lab tracks emerging tools, tactics, and case studies, then translates them into practical guidance for communities and institutions.
The Lab analyzes AI-powered scams, including voice-cloning fraud, “grandparent” scams, impersonation calls, phishing campaigns, and financial fraud targeting seniors and families. ASAC converts this intelligence into prevention strategies, scripts, checklists, and alerts that help people avoid being tricked.
ASAC tracks how AI intensifies misinformation – from fake screenshots to fabricated quotes and viral synthetic content. The Lab maps narratives and distribution channels, helping educators, institutions, and youth leaders understand what is spreading, where, and how to respond.
Some communities are hit harder than others. ASAC studies which groups are most exposed – including seniors, low-digital-literacy populations, non-English speakers, and youth – and how AI-generated threats show up in their daily lives. This analysis shapes ARI’s programming, CAST projects, Navigator training, and safety toolkits.
Schools, nonprofits, libraries, and companies can share incident reports with ASAC for confidential analysis. The Lab aggregates these reports to identify sector-specific trends, common attack types, and vulnerabilities, then feeds back tailored recommendations through AIRAIP and institutional toolkits.
ASAC synthesizes data from CAST chapters, Navigators, institutions, partners, and open sources to identify early warning signs of new AI threats. Through regular bulletins and dashboards, the Lab keeps ARI’s network – and the broader public – informed and prepared.
ASAC generates a suite of practical, high-impact outputs:
The ASAC Insight Lab is powered entirely by volunteers—people who believe that communities deserve clarity, safety, and truth in an age of overwhelming digital noise. Every bulletin, every alert, every toolkit is created by individuals who choose to step forward and make a real difference. When you join ASAC, you don’t just volunteer—you become part of a national safety network, shaping how families, seniors, and institutions stay protected from emerging AI threats. This is your chance to lead, to influence, and to stand on the front lines of digital safety. Step in. Your insight could be the spark that protects an entire community.
